Terms of service
Last updated: 9 October 2026
These terms cover the Kadal Deck hosted service at deck.kadal.cc: the dashboard, publishing, the live rooms and the paid plans. The service is run by Mithunish Prabhakaran, an individual based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, trading as Kadal ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the service you agree to them.
1. The service
Kadal Deck lets you publish presentations built with the open-source Kadal Deck engine to a web address, and run a live room in which your audience follows along, answers polls and quizzes, asks questions and reacts. What each plan includes is listed on the pricing page; features listed there as "on the roadmap" are not part of any plan.
The engine itself (@kadal/deck and its packages) is separate software, licensed under the GNU Affero General
Public License v3 or later, or under a commercial licence by agreement. These terms do not change that licence; see
Licensing.
2. Your account
- You sign in with a Google or GitHub account. You must give accurate information and keep that account secure.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account and your workspaces, including by people you invite.
- API tokens act as you. Keep them secret and revoke any token you think has leaked.
- You must be old enough to agree to these terms where you live, or have a parent or guardian agree for you.
3. Your content
Your decks, questions, poll answers and everything else you or your audience put into the service remain yours (or theirs). You give us the permission we need to store, process and show that content in order to run the service for you — for example, serving a published deck to the people you share it with. We do not sell your content or use it to train models.
You are responsible for having the rights to what you publish, and for how you use your audience's answers.
4. Acceptable use
You must not use the service to:
- break the law, or publish content that infringes someone else's rights;
- publish malware, phishing pages, or anything meant to deceive or defraud;
- harass or threaten people, or publish sexual content involving minors or non-consensual intimate imagery;
- send spam, or use live rooms or the API to flood, scrape or attack anyone, including us;
- get around plan limits, rate limits or access controls, or share one paid seat among several people.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that do these things. Where we can, we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix it.
5. Plans, payment and renewal
- Paid plans are subscriptions billed monthly or annually in advance through Paddle, and renew automatically until you cancel. Taxes are calculated and collected by Paddle.
- You can cancel at any time from the billing page of the dashboard or through Paddle. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep the plan until the end of the period you paid for, then the workspace moves to Free.
- Moving to Free deletes nothing. Decks over a Free limit stay published, but you can't publish new versions of them until the workspace is within the limit again.
- If we change a price, we will tell you at least 30 days before it applies to your next renewal, and you can cancel before then.
- Refunds follow our refund policy.
6. Availability and changes
We work to keep the service fast and available, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and paid plans do not include an uptime guarantee. We may change or improve features; if we remove something a paid plan depends on, we will tell you in advance, and you may cancel and ask for a pro-rata refund of the unused period.
7. Ending the service
You can delete your account at any time from the dashboard. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms. If we ever shut the service down, we will give at least 60 days' notice so you can move your decks — the engine is open source, so they will keep working without us.
8. Disclaimers and liability
The service is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits or lost data, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before it arose. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
9. The law that applies
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Chennai, Tamil Nadu have jurisdiction, without taking away any protection the law of your own country gives you as a consumer. Your purchase itself is governed by Paddle's buyer terms.
10. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will update the date above and tell account holders by email or in the dashboard before the change takes effect.
