Sponsor

Keep the engine free

Kadal Deck's engine is open source under the AGPL, so anyone can write, present and self-host decks with it at no cost. The hosted service pays for most of the work; sponsors pay for the rest: time on issues, docs, new framework islands and the features you ask for.

No public sponsors yet. Be the first, and your name or logo goes here and in the README.

Also on BACKERS.md. Private sponsorships are never listed.

Other ways to help

  • Star the repository: it is how most people find it.
  • Report a bug with a small deck.mdx that shows it, or answer someone else's issue.
  • Present with it and share the deck; tell us, and we may add it to the showcase.
  • Write an island for a framework we don't cover yet, or improve the docs.
  • Use the hosted service for decks you publish: the plans pay for the engine too.

Questions

About sponsoring

How does paying work?

Through GitHub Sponsors, on the same bill as anything else you pay GitHub for. Sponsorships from a personal account reach us in full; GitHub charges organisations up to 6%, or 3% when they pay by invoice. You can change your tier or stop at any time on GitHub.

Can I sponsor without being listed?

Yes. Choose a private sponsorship on GitHub and we never show your name, avatar or logo anywhere, whatever the tier.

Does sponsoring give me a hosted plan?

No. Sponsorships fund the open-source engine and plans pay for the hosted service; the two are kept apart, so the engine never gains features only sponsors can use.

Is a sponsorship tax-deductible?

No. Kadal is a business run by one person in India, not a charity, so a sponsorship is a payment for the perks of its tier rather than a donation.

We build a product on the engine. Is sponsoring the same as a commercial licence?

No. Sponsoring supports the project; a commercial licence removes the AGPL's obligation to publish your changes when you run a modified engine as a service. Write to us if you need the licence.
