Privacy policy
Last updated: 17 October 2026
This policy explains what the Kadal Deck hosted service at deck.kadal.cc collects, why, and what you can do about it. It is run by Mithunish Prabhakaran, an individual in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, trading as Kadal ("we"), who is responsible for your personal data. There is no advertising here, and nothing that follows you across other sites.
If you have an account
- Sign-in: your name, email address, profile picture and account ID from Google or GitHub, which you choose to sign in with. We never see your password there.
- Workspaces and decks: what you publish, its versions, your settings, the people you invite, and your API tokens (stored only as one-way hashes).
- Billing: Paddle, our merchant of record, collects your payment details, address and tax information and handles the payment. We receive your name, email, country, plan and subscription status — never your card number. See Paddle's privacy policy.
If you join a deck's live room
You don't need an account. The deck's owner (the presenter) decides what the room is used for. The room handles:
- a random viewer ID kept in your browser, so a vote or an upvote counts once;
- what you send to the room: questions, upvotes, poll and quiz answers, reactions, a raised hand, and a nickname if you join a quiz leaderboard;
- which slide you are on and how long you stay, so the presenter can see how a deck is read.
Questions and poll results are kept so the presenter can read them after the talk; the presenter can delete them, and we delete them with the deck.
Everyone
- Server logs: your IP address, browser and the pages requested, which Cloudflare processes to deliver the site, to rate-limit abuse and to keep it secure. We use IP addresses for nothing else.
- Cookies and browser storage: a sign-in cookie for the dashboard, a presenter cookie for a deck's passcode, and local storage for your theme, room ID and deck preferences. All are needed for the site to work; there are no tracking or advertising cookies.
- Where you came from: when you first arrive, a cookie (
kd_ref, 30 days) notes the site or campaign that sent you — for example "producthunt", or the referring site's name — and nothing else. If you then create an account, that label is saved with it once, so we know which launches and links bring people. It never leaves deck.kadal.cc and is not shared. - Bot checks: some forms and rooms may use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that a person is using them.
Who processes it
- Cloudflare, Inc. — hosting, storage, the live rooms, logs and bot checks.
- Paddle.com — payments, invoices, tax and refunds, as merchant of record.
- Google and GitHub — sign-in, only if you choose them.
These providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States and the European Union, under their own safeguards. We do not sell or rent personal data to anyone.
Why we use it
To provide the service you asked for (your account, publishing, the rooms), to bill you through Paddle, to keep the service secure and working, and to meet legal obligations. We email you only about your account, your billing, or a change to these policies.
How long we keep it
- Account and workspace data: while your account exists, and deleted within 30 days after you delete it.
- Published decks, their versions and their room data: until you delete them or the account.
- Billing records: as long as tax law requires, which Paddle and we must keep even after an account is closed.
- Server logs: for the short period Cloudflare keeps them.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask to see, correct, export or delete your personal data, or object to how we use it. If you are in India, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 gives you these rights; in the EU or UK, the GDPR does. Email pmithunish@gmail.com and we will answer within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
If you joined a room without an account, tell us the deck's address and roughly when, and we will find and delete what you sent.
Children
Accounts are not for children. Anyone under 18 needs a parent or guardian's permission to create one. Audiences in a room don't need accounts, and a presenter running a room for children is responsible for doing so appropriately.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date above and tell account holders first.
